As someone who has “fallen” for conspiracy theories rather recently (or should I say “woken up to” conspiracies?), I appreciate the sober tone you offer. What started me on this journey was David Grusch’s revelations in 2023 that the US was in possession of “alien biologics” and “alien craft”. After looking into it (admittedly it took many months before I even took the claims seriously), I ended up thinking: “If this is true, and there are certainly MANY well-placed authorities who seem to think this is no laughing matter, then what else is being hidden?” Also I was amazed that my perception of the world could be so manipulated, for lack of a better word. Lastly, for what it’s worth, a small minority being able to control a large majority is akin to a shepherd and his sheepdog controlling his flock; I don’t see it as impossible.

Isn't this recent revelation linked to what you say, meaning that it seems to have been Pentagon disinformation to cover up their secret-weapons programs? https://www.wsj.com/politics/national-security/ufo-us-disinformation-45376f7e

I do think that a small minority can more or less control a large majority, but I do think it is difficult to do without leaving any clear evidence to those who make the effort and don't go along with the flock.

Well, the problem with articles like this often comes down to the source. If, as I now believe, there really are covert forces operating behind the scenes, then how can we trust any mainstream narrative to reflect the full truth? Wouldn’t that kind of control extend top-down, shaping the information landscape itself?

I’m painfully aware that this leads to a kind of epistemological spiral or an infinite regress of asking, “But can I trust this source? What about this one?” But when we’re dealing with the very foundations of what constitutes reality, I don’t see any alternative. As you rightly noted in your article, we can’t live in a state of permanent skepticism, but at the same time, I can’t in good faith outsource my perception of reality to authority figures who may be shaping it for their own ends.

Is everything in this field just disinformation to conceal secret weapons programs? I’m sure a significant portion is. But it only takes one genuine case to break the frame. And from what I’ve seen, there appear to be quite a few honest, credible witnesses describing events that don’t fit within the narrow constraints of our current reductionist-materialist worldview.
