I am curious about this sentence "I had hoped that we would not have to debate whether or not wokeness is a problem, whether or not transgender ideology is a problem". Considering it a problem or not probably is a question of "preferences" and "values". Did you find a way to agree on the values that support those worldviews (wokeness or transgender ideology)? did you disagree on the values or on the shape they take in the practice? thank you
Hi Aline, thanks a lot for your comment. It is about the shape and the dynamics these movements provoke. I cannot speak here about everyone in the room, but most critics, I would argue, are kind of old school lefties who are all about racial, gender etc. equality, but don't think that oppression is the only reason that unequal outcomes exist. There is more to the world than power and privilege. Also the idea that every virtue taken to the extreme will become a vice. Does this answer your question?
Hi Micha, thank you , this answers partly to my question . I guess it is impossible to answer completely here because . I wonder for instance if it is possible at one point to have a group of people share common ground on the fact that , "There is more to the world than power and privilege" ? if not, how come that worldview is not shared? That would take us to another conversation and I don't want to bother you.
I'm sure it is possible to have a group of people that shares this common ground, either through selection or through spending enough time unpacking ideological biases/assumptions. It requires people's readiness/openness to do this and the right facilitation...
